are closing in on the signing of Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu after reportedly agreeing a £34million deal with the Serie A club. And the Red Devils look set to welcome Dorgu with a dream gift that will instantly make him confident that he has made the right move by joining ‘s ranks.

According to , United have struck an agreement with Lecce to pay an initial £30m and then a potential £4m in add-ons to meet the club’s valuation.

After the Italian outlet rejected an offer worth £25m earlier this month, further positive talks appear to have resulted in a favourable outcome for all parties.

Amorim desperately needs left-wing-back reinforcements, with Luke Shaw’s injury woes continuing this season and Tyrell Malacia struggled to impress since returning from his own lengthy lay-off.

Shaw has appeared just three times, none of them starts, since last February and he is expected to recover from his latest setback next month.

But he looks set to lose his status as United’s first-choice left-back once Dorgu lands at Old Trafford and could see more minutes on the left of Amorim’s back three this term.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports that the 20-year-old’s switch from Lecce will trigger a loan exit for Malacia amid interest from across Europe, including the .

As soon as Dorgu walks through the door, he will automatically inherit first-choice status and have enough match sharpness to feature immediately.

Amorim should hand the Denmark international instant minutes on the left flank, replacing his current makeshift go-to option, Diogo Dalot.

Dorgu is considered a raw talent but possesses traits that the Portuguese tactician doesn’t currently possess among his wing-backs.

He has a grander reputation for his attacking output than his defensive qualities, but United will hope Amorim can develop areas of his game while taking advantage of those already advanced.

Once he becomes a United player, Dorgu won’t just receive instant starts, but he will also be in line to wear his preferred shirt number as a bonus present.

The talented starlet has worn the No. 13 shirt since playing for FC Nordsjaelland’s reserves, keeping the number throughout his short senior career so far.

United’s No. 13 shirt has been vacant since Lee Grant left the club in 2022. Before the cover goalkeeper, it was donned by another stopper, Anders Lindegaard.

The number is perhaps most synonymous at Old Trafford with Ji-sung Park. He wore it from 2005 to 2012 during his successful career at the club.
