women star Chloe Kelly has issued a damning statement against her club and revealed her intention to leave in the summer.

The England international took to social media on Wednesday evening to give her account of events after claiming her club are trying to dictate which club she joins next in her career.

The 27-year-old has four months left to run on her current deal and is set to leave the 2016 WSL winners in the summer. She has made only one start and six appearances in total this season, leaving her frustrated.

And Kelly has hit out at City officials for trying to influence her next move, detailing her “disappointment” over the transfer saga and revealed the mental toll that being denied an exit has had on her.

“For a long time I’ve tried to work through professional challenges privately, not commenting publicly,” Kelly wrote on .

“But with my situation increasingly being debated in the public domain I feel it’s time to be open and transparent and you heard it from my perspective.

“A key lesson I have learned in my life is that whilst I can’t control someone’s negative behaviour towards me, I can control how long I am prepared to tolerate it.”

After paying tribute to the club’s fans and her team-mates, Kelly confirmed she had “accepted my future is not at this club” beyond her current deal.

“With the Euros fast approaching, this summer is a huge one and I want to be in a position to give it my best shot to represent my country,” she added.

“Something which has always filled me with such pride and it is a true honour to do so. However to be dictated whom I can and can’t join with only 4 months left of the football season is having a huge impact on not only my career but my mental well being.

“The situation has dragged on for too long, it’s disappointing and not right.

“I’m at a pivotal point in my life and my career is so important to me and it’s very disappointing that the sport we love can make you feel this way especially after there’s been so much growth in our sport.”

Kelly finished by saying that “dreams can be crushed whilst we live in silence”, adding she just wants “to be happy again”.

With the end of the transfer window fast approaching and time running out for Kelly to get her move away before Euro 2025 begins in July, it remains to be seen whether her pleas will be answered by manager Gareth Taylor.

Sport report that City are ‘reluctant’ to allow Kelly to join a WSL rival, especially while they cope with injuries in their squad.

A shock move to has been mooted, with United boss Marc Skinner refusing to rule out an approach. “We’ve always said at that if it’s the right person at the right time, that fits this unique group of teammates then we can look to try and do business,” he said last week.
