Idris Elba’s wife says he ‘derailed’ her life after making sacrifice to be with him

Sabrina Elba has opened up about the career sacrifice she made for her relationship with actor . The pair first crossed paths at a party in Vancouver back in 2017 and they tied the knot two years later.

Reflecting on their marriage, the 35-year-old shared how her life took a dramatic turn after falling for Idris, 52. Prior to their romance, Sabrina was on the path for law school but was “derailed by a tall, dark and handsome actor”.

She later left her legal aspirations in Vancouver behind and relocated to London to be with Idris, a decision she doesn’t regret. In addition to being a married couple, they are also business partners, having launched skincare brand S’Able Labs together in 2022.

Speaking to Tatler Magazine, she said: “I’m now a trained aesthetician, which is so funny, because I never thought I’d become a facialist. But as a CEO, you want to learn about all aspects of the business.”

Sabrina describes herself as the “nitty gritty” of the business, while Idris is the “big thinker” with a “more creative side”.

However, mixing business with pleasure isn’t always smooth sailing, as she admits: “We have good days and bad days!”.

Despite this, Sabrina believes their joint venture has given them “an aligned purpose and shared goal”, with the help of a strict rule in place.

To prevent their marriage from being consumed by work discussions, the couple have banned no business talk after 6pm.

“These things are really important, because otherwise, everything just bleeds together too,” she explained.

In addition to their joint venture, both Sabrina and Idris have individual careers and projects.

Sabrina, aside from being a CEO, is also a model and activist, holding titles such as the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development and co-chair of the European Board of Global Citizen.

Idris, on the other hand, juggles several businesses alongside his illustrious career in the limelight, which spans acting to DJing.

The Luther star had previously declared he was done with love until he met Sabrina, his third wife.

His previous marriages were to makeup artist Hanne ‘Kim’ Norgaard and Sonya Nicole Hamlin.

With his first wife, he has a 23-year-old daughter named Isan, as well as an older son, whose name remains private, and a nine-year-old son, Winston, from previous relationships.
