McGraw joined “border czar” Tom Homan and a team of ICE agents in Chicago on Sunday as they carried out deportation operations following President Donald Trump’s first days in office.

As part of his show, Dr. Phil filmed a variety of arrests of illegal immigrants but McGraw believes that those arrested were not who Gomez was weeping about.

McGraw revealed he was granted full access to Sunday’s operations that saw more than 100 people rounded up by ICE.

“I wanted to see (the immigration enforcement raids) for myself,” he told the outlet.

“There were no restrictions. There was no room I couldn’t go into. There was no meeting I couldn’t attend.”

In an early-morning pre-raid meeting, McGraw recounted ICE agents being briefs on the individuals they would be zeroing in on.

“They were reading off the charges and the convictions in the command centre — murder, murder, child sex crimes, child rape, aggravated assault,” McGraw said.

Agents were also specifically instructed to avoid any violent confrontations with their targets.

“Safety was their No. 1 concern that they talked about,” Dr. Phil added. “I was very impressed at the professionalism of all of this.”

Once in the field, he said agents focused “on the worst first,” adding that he witnessed “how much investigative work they put in to these targets.”

He continued: “I would suspect that Selena’s empathy is certainly not for the people that Mr. Homan is going after.”

McGraw said he believes that the criticism surrounding ICE enforcement is unwarranted, outing “fear-mongering” media outlets that are reporting the federal agents are conducting indiscriminate sweeps of communities.

“That is not what they’re doing,” Dr. Phil insisted. “They’re not targeting farms or agricultural environments. They’re not going into businesses and checking people’s immigration status.”

He claimed to have asked “all the hard questions,” including whether they were bulldozing through neighbourhoods where there are concentrations of illegal aliens, or going into schools and removing students, to which they responded, “absolutely not.”

He added: “These agents are after the bad guys.”

Earlier this week, the Only Murders in the Building star broke down in a tearful Instagram video, claiming, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand.”

She quickly took down the post, but not before it was viewed and reshared by thousands.

“She seemed to me to be very sincere in her empathy for these individuals, but I’m not sure who she was identifying with,” McGraw said kindly.

“I don’t think she would relate to the people that were taken down in this operation.”
