Prime Video’s steamy romance sets global records despite initial poor reviews

Prime Video has announced that its Spanish original film, Your Fault, has taken the world by storm, smashing records despite initially being met with “terrible” reviews.

Adapted from Mercedes Ron’s bestselling The Culpables book trilogy, the film launched on December 27 and was available in 240 countries and territories.

Following its release, Your Fault soared to the top of the Prime Video charts in over 170 countries, including in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Brazil, and Mexico, among others.

The film also secured a spot in the Top 3 in both the US and UK, and featured in the Top 10 in more than 220 countries. It has been hailed as the most-watched international original title globally at launch, with an astonishing 90% of its viewership coming from outside Spain.

In addition, Prime Video has shared its Top 10 list of the most-watched non-English language international originals for 2024, which saw remarkable international success.

This year, several Prime Video international originals broke viewership records, particularly within the young adult category, which continues to captivate global audiences.

Leading the pack is Your Fault, with the German Original Maxton Hall: The World Between Us, inspired by Mona Kasten’s Save Me book series, hot on its heels. Other standout Spanish Originals include the post-apocalyptic thriller Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End and the series based on the Red Queen book trilogy, reports .

Prime Video has put a spotlight on global successes from renowned franchises, showcasing the Italian original spy series Citadel: Diana and Citadel: Honey Bunny from India, both extensions of the expanding Citadel universe. Additionally, the platform has introduced the Japanese Original Like A Dragon: Yakuza, which is a television adaptation of SEGA’s iconic video game saga.
