Chery’s Jetour model can float on water
EV firm has built a radical new capable of swimming and crossing rivers.
The amphibious G900 EV has been under its new high-tech brand
can even cross the country’s famous Yangtze River as a result of achieving IPX8-rated watertightness.
Pictures appear to show a type of turbine on the rear left corner of the car which may help it float above water.
Marine-grade cockpit sailing technology with active sailing, active drainage and double protection all as standard.
The car can float on water for up to 40 minutes
The brand is focused on delivering “forward-looking off-road technology and luxury driving experience”.
Experts at explained: “The G900, the expected flagship of the Zongheng range, was previewed the day before the event, swimming across a lake in a move that looks to one-up the Yangwang U8.
“Chery claims the G900 can swim for up to 40 minutes at 8.5kph and can even cross the Yangtze River thanks to IPX8-rated watertightness.
“Apparently one motor has been developed in-house by Chery exactly for this purpose.”

Jetour tested the new model’s water technology at their first sailing technology test on 15 January.
Jetour took their car to the Taiping Lake in Huangshan, China which has an average water depth of 48m.
After being given the signal to drive into the lake, a motorist is seen slowly peeling into the water, with half of the bodywork submerged.
But instead of sinking, the model quickly began to float with ease, with the car’s wheels effectively becoming rudders under the surface.
The car’s steering wheel was used to navigate the model on the lake making it a seamless transition between land and water.
The G900 could be a direct competitor to leading developer BYD, who produced their own water-based design last year.
The Yangwang U8 can float on water for 30 minutes, using the movement of the wheels to propel the car forward.
However, the plug-in hybrid SUV will set motorists back with the model on sale for an eye-watering 1,098,000 CNY (around £120,000) in China.
But, or European markets at this stage.
