Olivia on The Chase made a costly mistake
Fans of have a strong dislike for players who take a low offer – but they seemed to be extra infuriated this evening as a contestant on the show made a costly mistake.
welcomed on Nathan from Hitchin, Olivia from Guernsey, Michaela from Lincolnshire and Martyn from London. Together the team tested their general knowledge skills as they went head to head with Chaser Mark Labbett, also known as ‘The Beast’.
Nathan was in the hot seat first but after a £5,000 cash builder round, he went on to play for the same amount and was sadly caught and eliminated from the game. Next up was Olivia – who made a decision that fans could not forgive.
After bagging £4,000 in the cashbuilder, the contestant was then offered £1,000, £4,000 or £45,000. After conferring with her team, Olivia made the controversial decision to go low.
Announcing her choice, she told Brad: “I think I’ve bottled it a little bit since Nathan, so I’m going to be a coward and go for the £1,000 I reckon.

The players hoped to win big
Mark applauded her decision, saying it was “sensible”. But she soon proved him wrong as she sailed through the round answering most of the questions correctly and landed herself a place in the final Chase.
But Bradley pointed out that she would have had three goes at getting £45,000. However, he defended her decision to go low as he said: “Nothing more to be said. It’s a bit of safety first.”
Fans at home were livid, as one player fumed on X/Twitter: “She knows her s**t why the f**k did she not go high, SO BORING #thechase.” Another fumed: “Well thats it for me it for me #TheChase can do one.”

“What a joke. Could have gone for the High offer and still would have gone through. It’s time to abolish the low offer on The Chase! #TheChase,” someone else raged.
Olivia was joined by the remaining two players in the final Chase, with them playing for a cashpot of £12,000. They sailed through the round and managed to beat The Beast, landing themselves a decent £4,000.
Olivia shared that she would be spending her winnings on skateboards, while Michaela planned a nice holiday and Martyn did the same.
