Chelsea career could soon come to an end before it’s even properly begun.

The English ace has shone since arriving at Stamford Bridge from in the summer of 2023, netting 39 goals in 70 matches and being named the PFA Young Player of the Year.

He’s also much-loved by the faithful and for good reason too, given the Stamford Bridge outfit have been responsible for his emergence as one of Europe’s hottest prospects.

But if results, as has been the case in recent weeks, continue to stall, are going to have a hard time keeping hold of the 22-year-old.

Saturday’s defeat away to City was their sixth winless outing from the last seven matches, with the capital club now facing an uphill battle to make it into the Champions League positions.

Missing out on Champions League football again would be a real body blow for , not only from a financial point of view but also in terms of keeping hold of their best talents – Palmer chief among them.

It could open the door for big clubs across Europe, that are competing in the continent’s most prestigious competition, to spring a move for Palmer, with the English international’s former employer emerging as a potential destination.

With ’s contract set to expire at the end of the season and no signs of an extension just yet, City will be forced into the market for a creative midfielder and given their past with Palmer, the moneybags may choose to target the current ace.

Palmer left City in search of regular first-team action, with deeming him not ready for the step-up at the time of departure.

Since then, he’s flourished in England’s top flight, proving himself as more than good enough and considering he sits second in the list of big chance creators this season, there are few better options available on the market right now.

And it’s clear he and Guardiola’s relationship is still intact, after the pair were spotted deep in conversation well after the full-time whistle at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.

Should Palmer’s exit from Stamford Bridge materialise somewhere down the line, should bank a hefty fee for the star, given he’s under contract until 2033 and valued at well over £100million by Transfermarkt.

But if aren’t able to match Palmer’s trajectory and development, it could prove a short-lived relationship between the Blues and one of England’s very best.
