While buying fresh is a great way to keep your diet healthy and nutritious, it can be hard to use them before they start to go off.

The most important factor in keeping your vegetables fresh is to make sure they are stored in the right place.

Most vegetables should be stored in a cool dry place but some might need a warmer environment to ensure they can ripen – such as tomatoes.

For leafy greens, you should make sure to rinse and dry leafy vegetables before wrapping them in paper towels or kitchen towels and placing them into the draw of your fridge.

If you can, it’s even better to store them in a sealed container or in an air-tight zip lock bag.

Avocados should be stored at room temperature and away from direct sunlight which will help them stay fresh – this is also the same for tomatoes.
