MSNBC analyst Michael Steele on Sunday warned against President Donald Trump’s picks for high-level government positions.
“The three nominees this week are just wholly unqualified,” said Steele, who is the former chair of the Republican National Committee. “The reality that we have now in front of us is someone who is a threat to our national security in Tulsi Gabbard, someone who’s a threat to our homeland security in Kash Patel, and someone who’s a threat to our health in RFK Jr.”
The three are Trump’s picks for director of national intelligence, FBI director and Health and Human Services secretary, respectively, and set for Senate confirmation hearings later this week.
Steele told Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) that he would “block every last one of them” if he had a vote.
Blunt Rochester revealed a key question she’s asked of the nominees she’s met with one-on-one.
“If the president is saying or doing something or proposing something that you think is bad for this country, will you speak up?” she said.
“What’s their answer?” Steele asked.
“Some have said ‘Oh yes, I will speak up. I will follow the law,’” she recalled.
“They’re lying,” Steele said. “They’re lying.”
