From breakfasts to school plans to showers, TODAY’s Dylan Dreyer details it all in a beautifully handwritten weekly calendar for her mother-in-law … and she shared a photo with her followers on Instagram.
“How much fun would it be to have me as your daughter-in-law??” she asked in the post’s caption. “I think I’m being helpful! Sound off: helpful or impossibly annoying???”
Dylan gave TODAY.com some background on her calendar system and extremely willing babysitters.
“My mother-in-law (Denise) babysits often. She comes down from Boston to help whenever we ask,” Dylan says. “She’s obsessed with my boys and if she hasn’t seen them for more than two weeks, she’s itching for the invite! My father-in-law will join her over the weekend to help with the juggle of birthday parties and sports.”
From the look of the calendar, it does seem like quite a juggle.
In addition to school and homework, Dylan’s three young sons (Calvin, Oliver and Rusty) have piano lessons, karate, school spirit days and more. Sound familiar?
Does Dylan’s mother-in-law object to the detailed meal plans that Dylan suggests?
“My mother-in-law wouldn’t tell me if she didn’t like it,” Dylan shares, “but I think she finds it helpful so she doesn’t have to think and can instead just enjoy the boys.”
Plus, if she’s visiting on a weekend, she can choose what to serve.
“I just try to keep the weekdays organized, then the weekend is a free-for-all,” Dylan says. “I like to know they’re filling up on good foods during the week. They can live a little over the weekend!”
She also makes sure that Calvin always has an option for gluten-free food.
A number of fellow list-makers commented to support Dylan’s system.
“Totally helpful! When my three boys were all in four overlapping sports, my mom so appreciated it!” one commented. Another wrote, “You are a mom gangster.”
