The Chase’s Bradley Walsh says ‘people don’t realise’ health condition he faces daily

The TV star bravely opened up about his battle with blepharitis, an eye condition that causes swelling and redness, during a past appearance on . His puffy face often raises concerns among viewers.

Speaking to former hosts and , he revealed: “People don’t realise I have seriously bad blepharitis. I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle.”

He also admitted that he would need surgery to rectify the issue, saying: “I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out.”

He acknowledged that people have commented on his looks in the past.

Bradley explained to viewers that blepharitis primarily results in red, swollen, itchy eyelids and crusts or flakes at the base of the eyelashes. In severe cases, sufferers can wake up with their eyelids stuck together, according to MyLondon.

While not life-threatening, blepharitis can lead to dry eyes, cysts, and conjunctivitis. Treatment usually involves daily eyelid washing, with the NHS recommending the use of eye pads, wipes, and eyedrops for cleaning.

In more serious instances, it’s advised to consult a local GP. Fans might also be surprised to learn that Bradley is colour-blind.

During an episode of The Chase aired last year, he had difficulty with a question about Scrabble tiles.

Bradley shared his personal experience, saying: “Fans at home are probably thinking ‘what’s he talking about he must be really dim’ but no it’s my colour blindness.”
