Norrøna and The North Face feature some peak performers. For those who have found regular merino wool base layers a bit itchy and prone to tear, NuYarn technology from Artilect.studio is machine washable, dries five times faster and very durable, £90 for its baselayer. With all brands seeking to reduce the negative impact of their production processes by using more recycled and circular fabrics, there’s also a big push towards a PFC-free future by producers using less damaging water-repellent treatments and waterproof membranes.
