Beautiful Spanish city where it’s 18C in winter and flights are less than £100

With storms and the wet and cold showing no signs of going anywhere, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about some winter sun.

The travel experts at have revealed that January and February are some of the cheapest months to travel – and some of the most beautiful destinations in Europe are up for grabs for as little as £60 return.

One of these stunning locations is Seville in  The capital of Andalusia is known as the ‘frying pan of Europe’ for its incredibly hot summers, but in the winter months it offers a more comfortable day time temperature of around 18C.

Tucked away from the windy coast, its sunlit streets lined with citrus trees are perfect for al fresco dining.

The city’s tapas and flamenco add warmth to any winter visit. If you want to visit this beautiful city, then Barrio Santa Cruz is a great place to start.

All three  are clustered in this neighbourhood, so you can see the Real Alcázar, Catedral de Seville and Archivo General de Indias in one day.

Real Alcázar is Seville’s royal palace, a combination of Christian and Mudéjar architecture. Originally developed as a fort in 913, the site has been revamped multiple times over the passing centuries but has not lost any of its splendour.

Next, the Catedral de Seville – the world’s largest Gothic cathedral, it was built between 1434 and 1517 and houses a bell tower as well as a monumental tomb of Christoher Columbus.

Last but certainly not least in this historical trio is the Archivo General de Indias or the General Archive of the Indies – a fascinating museum housed in the old merchant building.

It was completed in 1646, under the direction of several prestigious architects such as Juan de Minjares, Alonso de Vandelvira and Miguel de Zumárraga and is now open for tours and exploration.

If you want to take a break and experience this gorgeous Spanish city for yourself,  currently has flights from London to Seville for just £86 return. 

You can also take the Eurostar to Paris and train from there via Barcelona to Seville.

This is more expensive at £230 and will take longer, but if you want a slow and steady trip it could be perfect.
