Alex Jones and Roman Kemp on The One Show
BBC One’s regular programming has been significantly altered, resulting in fan favourites like The One Show not being broadcast tonight (Monday, 27 January).
The network’s primary channel typically airs the same shows each evening, with The One Show usually airing at 7pm for half an hour, followed by at 7.30pm.
However, this Monday’s schedule will see these programmes replaced by a special one-hour programme.
Holocaust Memorial Day 2025 will be broadcast on One from 7pm. This standalone show will feature presenter Reeta Chakrabarti exploring Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day.
The One Show won’t air tonight
The ‘s description of the programme states: “Eighty years after the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, survivors and VIPs attend a unique commemoration to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, hosted by Reeta Chakrabarti.”
“The ceremony commemorates the six million Jewish men, women and children who were brutally murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust, and other victims of Nazi persecution. It also commemorates those who were murdered in the genocide in Bosnia 30 years ago and in other more recent genocides.
“Through music, readings and powerful personal testimony, the victims of these appalling events are remembered. Among those taking part in this annual event are cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the Countess of Wessex’s String Orchestra and Rob Rinder.”
Following this will be Holocaust Memorial Day 2025: National Moment, which will broadcast live footage of iconic buildings and landmarks across the country illuminated in purple as a mark of remembrance. This brief segment will also be presented by Reeta, reports .
Alex and Roman frequently front the hit programme together
The One Show, typically hosted by Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, along with other celebrities such as Vernon Kay, Clara Amfo and Ronan Keating, will return to television screens on Tuesday, 28 January at its regular 7pm slot on One. The episode will be hosted by Alex and Clara, with the celebrity guests yet to be announced.
In other news, enthusiasts can still enjoy their Monday evening soap opera fix as the episode has been made available on iPlayer, despite not being broadcasted on One as per usual.
