Plans have been put forward for an urban “beach” in the UK that would become the largest in .
The Wave Park in Coleshill, Warwickshire, is part of a plan set to bring a vast wave machine and 5.4-acre man-made surf lagoon to the market town.
An application was made to North Warwickshire Borough Council seeking permission to make amendments to plans for the surfing park, which would include the creation of a western “beach” at the lagoon.
Built as part of a partnership between Stoneweg InfraSport and Teras capital, the works are expected to cost £50million, and include the 5.4-acre surf lagoon WaveGarden.
The technology will create 1,000 waves per hour, which can rise as high as two metres tall, reports.

Visitors will be able to take surfing lessons, with rentals also available at the proposed site.
Alongside the beach, the team are also planning to build an outdoor heated pool, a playground, and a skateboarding track, as per the outlet.
It’s planned to bring retail outlets, a shop, restaurants, and even a co-working space to the site.
An officer report explained: “Full planning permission was granted in 2020 for this recreational surfing centre with its associated infrastructure.
[REPORT]
“There have been a couple of minor amendments since then and pre-commencement conditions have been discharged and the access road constructed.
“The current application seeks additional amendments to the approved scheme – the addition of a western ‘beach’ at the lagoon and the removal of the central pier.
“Consequential changes arise because of this. Additionally, there are some internal re-arrangements to the main club-house necessitating some elevation alterations.
“The reason for the changes arises from the latest technical and mechanical operation of the wave-making .
“This results in the removal of the central pier and consequently the opportunity has been taken to review the perimeter of the lagoon resulting in a more natural design for the western shore.”
