The Castaways is coming to Channel 5 and the thriller tells the story of two sisters who become separated after a plane they were both supposed to be on goes missing. Lori and her sister Erin were due to go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Fiji.
However, following a huge argument, Erin refuses to get on the flight, but what she doesn’t know at first is that her sister is on the plane, which never reached its destination. For months, the whereabouts of the plane and the passengers on board are unknown.
This is until Lori’s credit card is used on a remote Pacific island and Erin flies out to Fiji to try and find answers. Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the pilot on the day the plane went missing poses a number of questions.
Filming took place in Fiji and Greece and the series originally aired on Paramount+ in 2023. The Guardian described The Castaways as “A darkly plotted and sunnily staged piece of escapism”.

Lori – Sheridan Smith
Sheridan Smith plays one of the sisters who goes missing on a remote island and she is a 43-year-old actress and singer from Lincolnshire.
She is best known for her roles in The Royle Family, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Gavin & Stacey and Benidorm.
Following her first relationship with James Corden, which ended in 2009, she met Jamie Horn, an insurance broker. They were together from 2018 and 2021 and have a son together.
Erin Holme – Celine Buckens
Celine Buckens plays Erin, who goes on a mission to track down her sister. Celine is a 28-year-old Belgian-British actress.
She is best known for her roles in War Horse, Free Rein and Warrior.
The star was also once a debutante at the Bal des débutantes in Paris.
Mike Brass – Brendan Cowell
Mike Brass is the plane’s captain and he is played by Brendan Cowell, a 48-year-old Australian actor and writer.
He is known for his lead role in the 2024 series Plum that he created, which was based on his 2021 novel of the same name.
The star dated actress Rose Byrne for six years until their separation in 2010.
Felix Vatubua – Lasarus Ratuere
Felix Vatubua is played by Lasarus Ratuere, a 39-year-old Australian actor.
He is known for his roles in Ghost in the Shell, Ready for This and The Tourist.
Daniel Eldridge – Dominic Tighe
Daniel Eldridge is one of the survivors who is played by Dominic Tighe, a 41-year-old actor from Devon.
The star is known for his roles in Insomnia, Hotel Portofino and A Confession.
Dominic lives and works in London and is married to actress Katherine Kingsley.

Amber Gordon – Charlotte Vega
Charlotte Vega is a 30-year-old Spanish actress, known for her roles in The Misfits Club, The Lodgers and Velvet.
She was born in Madrid and raised in London.
Natasha – Celeste Dodwell
Celeste Dodwell is a 35-year-old Australian actress known for playing Melody Jones in Home and Away.
She went on to star in Call the Midwife, Living and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Her father is actor and producer Grant Dodwell.
Jack Bantock – Joseph Mydell
Joseph Mydell is a 70-year-old American stage and screen actor who travelled to England in 1979 to research his one-man show on Paul Laurence Dunbar.
His television credits include Space Precinct, Chancer and Mrs Wilson.
Alice Harbencor – Alice Barclay
Alice Barclay is a TV and film actress known for her roles in A Spy Among Friends and A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.
Steven Wills – Dugald Bruce-Lockhart
Dugald Bruce-Lockhart is a 56-year-old Scottish actor and director who was born in Fiji, where The Castaways was filmed.
He is the son of intelligence officer and diplomat, James Robert Bruce Lockhart. He also has a number of family members who played rugby union for Scotland.
The star began his career as a stage actor before starring in Midsomer Murders, Brookside and Hotel Babylon.
The Castaways airs on Channel 5 on Sunday at 9pm
