Reform ‘still in for Elon Musk cash’ despite Nigel Farage row – but ‘not $100m’

A former insider has suggested that the party is still in line for a donation from tech tycoon despite him calling for to go.

Howard Cox, former Parliamentary pick for Dover and London mayoral candidate for the party, has suggested that the cash injection, however, will not be as much as $100million (£80m), as has been speculated.

Speculation ran rife in late 2024 amid suggestion may be considering lending a huge monetary helping hand to Reform UK. However, earlier this month, the Tesla CEO called for Mr Farage to be ousted as the party’s leader.

He “doesn’t have what it takes”, he wrote on his social medai platform X, after Mr Farage reiterated that he would not allow far-right campaigner Tommy Robinson to join Reform UK.

Nevertheless, the former UKIP leader has insisted that .

Mr Cox telling him to stop speaking about Robinson, who is currently in prison after admitting contempt of court, or he would be expelled.

Asked whether Mr Musk could still donate some money to the party he still supports, the FairFuelUK campaigner told Express.co.uk: “Absolutely. He wants to get rid of Starmer, and bear in mind he, you know, he can do that as a private businessman, no problems, through his businesses over here [in the UK].

“But, of course, he’s going to be… cleaning up the Blob, the civil service, over there [in the US] making it smaller and more effective.”

He added: “The guy is the richest man in the world. He’s got massive influence. He’s got the best free speech platform possible. And, you know, as far as donations, I still think he’ll give a donation.

“It won’t be $100million; I don’t think that. But I do think it will be a significant amount of money.”

A Reform UK spokesman said: “ is the most popular party leader in Britain. Reform UK are fully focussed on winning elections and saving Britain.”
