Michael Sheen found himself the target of lighthearted mockery as host Michael McIntyre branded him “self-centred” during his stint on One’s Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.

The Welsh actor gamely participated in the show’s notorious ‘Send To All’ challenge on Saturday, January 25, where he surrendered his phone to allow the comedian to text an embarrassing message to all his contacts live on stage.

Reflecting on his decision to join the segment, Sheen shared his apprehension: “It all seemed like a very good idea when I was first asked. Now it seems like a very bad idea.”

Accompanied by his partner Anna Lundberg, her mother Ingrid, and seated in a VIP box, Sheen could only watch as McIntyre projected his mobile screen for everyone in the theatre—and viewers at home—to see, rifling through his apps with cheeky fervour.

The audience erupted in laughter as the first app McIntyre explored was IMDb, where Sheen’s most recent look-up was none other than himself. The star, who has recently returned to Wales after leaving , defended this candid moment with humor: “Listen, sometimes… Sometimes, I have to look myself up, alright? Because I forget what I’ve been in.”

Don’t miss…

Sheen’s second most recent IMDb search was ‘Gavin and Stacey’, reinforcing his affinity for his Welsh heritage and the cherished local show that has captured widespread attention lately, .

McIntyre’s then explored Sheen’s phone notes, mockingly questioning, “Is notes a bit personal?” To which Sheen, with a smile, cautioned: “Don’t do that.”

Nevertheless, McIntyre delved in, discovering a note on Sheen’s work history that turned out to be related to his biography for a project. Amused, McIntyre read aloud and jested, “Sorry Michael, you’re coming across as rather self-centred.”

The comic then sifted through Sheen’s photos, uncovering a trove of selfies portraying the actor in various locations and costumes, such as the Port Talbot Steelworks, presenting his head from Twilight, and sporting an impressive handlebar moustache reminiscent of a 1970s Welsh rugby player. McIntyre couldn’t help but comment on the noticeable pattern: “There was a theme when I started to look at your phone of a certain level of self-obsession. Every single one of your photos is of you.”

Further scrolling led him to images of stuffed animals that had inspired Sheen for a TV segment, leading McIntyre to declare the sight the “creepiest thing he had ever seen in his life” while Sheen maintained his good humour throughout the jovial invasion of privacy.

The audience applauded Sheen for being a good sport during the show.
