Max Verstappen hit the slopes over the winter
During F1’s gruelling 24-race calendar, there is little time for drivers and team personnel to enjoy some rest and relaxation, but between mid-December and early January, the stars of the sport can spend some quality time with their friends and family.
After the 2024 season wrapped up with ’ win at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the drivers waved off their teams and took a break over the festive period. Many of them embarked on holidays with loved ones, with one of the most common activities being skiing.
and were the headline names who hit the slopes over the winter. The former posted a video to his showcasing a series of off-piste snowboarding runs at an undisclosed location. The Brit, holding his own camera, executed some impressive jumps and flips in the plush mountainside snow.

Verstappen spent most of his off-season with partner Kelly Piquet and her daughter Penelope. The couple announced that they are expecting a baby – Piquet’s second and their first together – ahead of the final race of the year, but this news didn’t stop them from enjoying a skiing outing together.
Piquet posted a series of snaps to her account showcasing the trio embracing a festive getaway at a busy skiing resort. They followed up the break by heading to the Overmarine Shipyard in Italy, where Verstappen collected his new £12.3million ($15m) superyacht, which he ordered two years prior.

George Russell ran into trouble navigating Sweden’s frozen lakes
Hamilton and Verstappen weren’t the only drivers to enjoy some time in the snow over winter. , Charles Leclerc, and star Norris were among the other drivers who posted photos and videos from skiing or snowboarding exhibitions onto their social media pages.
For Norris, the fun didn’t stop at skiing. Fresh from a breakthrough year with , the Brit enjoyed a luxurious holiday in Dubai, making the most of the golfing facilities and testing out some dune buggies with friends.

Rival was also behind the wheel, albeit on a rather different surface. ’ new team leader was filmed wrestling at the wheel of a -AMG machine over the frozen lakes of Sweden.
Some drivers enjoyed less extreme sports. showcased his experiences playing padel, while soaked up some rays, playing tennis and cycling with friends. Others elected not to post their gym selfies and workout videos, with Oscar Piastri and collating the best snaps from vacations with loved ones.
