Dry January is nearly over and the end of Veganuary is almost in sight. It’s a time for new beginnings, and for many people, that means focusing a little more on fitness. If you missed the January sales then all is not lost because this H Samuel deal could save some cash on a great Garmin watch.

The Garmin Venu is the closest thing that Garmin has to a smartwatch, so it’s a natural rival for something like the . However, Garmin is all about health and fitness, with a comprehensive suite of options for tracking, no matter what sport you’re taking part in.

The Garmin Venu 2 is a couple of years old, but that means it’s available at a great price, with – that’s a big saving off the £349 asking price at launch. At the time of writing, it’s cheaper than Amazon.

The Garmin Venu 2 offers a full range of fitness features, but backs those up with smartwatch features like a touchscreen, music and mobile payments.

Don’t miss…

The Garmin Venu 2 works nicely with Apple or Android phones, with a touchscreen AMOLED display that’s nice and bright, with rich colours and graphics.

Garmin is best known for its accurate heart rate tracking and body monitoring, so this device will not only track your workouts, but will also track your daily steps, your sleep and your stress. The clever thing is that it will give you a Body Battery reading through the day, taking this all into account and giving you a great idea of whether you should be working out or resting – it’s a great system and I’m a big fan of it.

Major sports are covered, so this is great for running, riding, swimming and a full range of other sports, including gym workouts.

I said that this was the closest to a smartwatch that you’ll get with Garmin, and that means it also supports Spotify, so you can download music, connect your headphones via Bluetooth and workout without your phone.

It also supports Garmin Pay, so you can make payments with your watch (if your bank is supported), while you’ll also get notifications from your phone right there on your wrist.

Everything you do is synced through to the Garmin Connect app on your phone, so you can check out your stats and customise your Venu 2. Best of all, you’ll get about 11 days of battery life from this Garmin, miles more than the Apple Watch.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the latest version – the newer Garmin Venu 3 is a better watch with longer battery life and a slightly larger display, which you can get for a small discount .
