star is set for an awkward reunion with a golf YouTube star after once getting him thrown out of a bar.

The American will be joined in the Saudi breakaway league by Rick Sheils, who has signed with the organisation to help create content and increase their profile within golf.

The Englishman, 38, confirmed he had struck a deal with the league’s powerbrokers on Friday and even gave away some details regarding his plans for 2025.

Shiels, who has nearly three million subscribers on his YouTube channel, will be taking on daring challenges, such as breaking 75 on all LIV Golf venues and completing 10-shot challenges alongside some of their biggest names.

One of his first planned videos will see him play with Jon Rahm and Koepka, with the golf star set for an awkward grilling over an unsavoury incident between the two men.

Back in 2022, Shiels was working at the Open Championship when he visited a bar after the third round late on a Saturday. Koepka just so happened to be in the VIP area with his security.

But it hadn’t been the best of days for the 34-year-old, who missed the cut after struggling to find his best level on the runway at St Andrews.

Shiels managed to snag himself an invite into the VIP area before spotting Koepka, and at that point he decided to introduce himself.

However, things took a bad turn after the golfer apparently instructed to remove him and his friend from the bar.

“I see Brooksy, here’s there, I think this is cool. I might introduce myself,” Shiels recalled on his podcast ‘The Rick Shiels Golf Show’.

“Dream scenario… he will come up to me and give me a big hug and say, ‘Rick, love your videos, pal, that was the dream, let’s have some champagne, let’s have some Sambuca.’

“He missed the cut. This was Saturday. I’m like, ‘here we go, Brooksy’. So I turn to him and he looks at me right in the eye and he taps the security guard next to him.

“The bouncer turns back to me, [Koepka] points at me, points at my mate Neil, and then indicates to the bouncer to remove us from the VIP section.

He added: “I’m like, what have I done to offend Brooks Koepka? So I’m like ‘this is really embarrassing now’.

“90 seconds ago I walked in here like cock of the land and now I’m walking out with a tail between my legs.”

Shiels claims to have addressed his run-in in a video with Koepka, so it may not be the last golf fans have heard about the story.
