Angel Gomes is staying tight-lipped on his next move.
Angel Gomes has made it clear that he has no interest in entertaining transfer speculation while the season is ongoing as he nears the expiry of his Lille contract. The academy graduate has been linked with a return to Old Trafford – but two rivals are also in the frame.
Gomes is expected to become a free agent in the summer after five impressive years in France, the club he joined when his United contract expired in 2020.
The 24-year-old has made 131 appearances for Lille, scoring nine goals and registering 19 assists, and started to realise his lofty potential.
Former England interim manager Lee Carsley rewarded Gomes’ progress by handing him his first four senior international caps last year.
And he will undoubtedly feature in Thomas Tuchel’s thinking when the new Three Lions boss selects his first squad in March.
Transfer speculation is unsurprisingly rising, though, after Gomes entered the final six months of his Lille contract. There is reportedly heavyweight interest.
According to , and West Ham United join the Red Devils in the picture, and it’s the former who are currently in the best position.
It’s claimed that Gomes would prefer a move to Spurs, who are now formalising an approach to seal a pre-contract agreement and beat rival suitors.

In July 2017, Gomes became United’s youngest player since Duncan Edwards in 1953 when he replaced Wayne Rooney in a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace at 16 years and 263 days old.
The technical midfielder went on to make 10 appearances for his boyhood club, but he would reportedly prefer to continue his career elsewhere.
However, for now, Gomes has insisted that he has no interest in being drawn into transfer talk and is fully focused on continuing to shine at Lille.
“I’m aware of clubs inquiring about my situation, but I’m now completely focused on Lille,” he told .
“I want to finish the season in the best way possible, and then we will see what happens; I’m focused on the present and not on negotiations.”
GIVEMESPORT added that West Ham had already offered Gomes a pre-contract, with new head coach Graham Potter determined to acquire his services.
Aston Villa and United are also said to be long-term admirers, but and Spurs are reportedly in the driver’s seat.
Gomes or not, United will likely target midfield reinforcements in the summer to add much-needed firepower to ‘s thin engine room.
