As the cost of motoring continues to rise, the remained particularly strong during 2024, with many motorists looking to save a fortune on their next model.
In particular, James Hosking, Director of the retail platform , highlighted that was strong throughout the 12-month period.
He explained: ” have topped the charts for the second consecutive year as the fastest-selling vehicle of 2024. These versatile vehicles are highly sought after by families, with compact SUVs emerging as a particularly popular choice, suitable for a variety of needs and budget.
“However, while SUVs are snapped up the quickest, only two appear on the list of the top ten most-searched-for cars – the Land Rover Defender and the Volkswagen Tiguan.”

According to AA Cars, the pre-owned model that sold the quickest in 2024 was the Toyota C-HR, a compact crossover known for its bold looks and particularly solid build quality.
Built over two generations since 2016, the C-HR may not be the cheapest or roomiest choice for a crossover, but offers a surprising amount of standard equipment and a solid powertrain.
The latest version of the model, launched in late 2023, also gives buyers the choice of a self-charging hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain, helping them cut down their fuel bills and the emissions produced.

In addition to SUVs and compact crossovers, AA Cars’ study found that models made by premium brands were also in strong demand on the used market throughout 2024.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA was the second highest car on the list, with many choosing the German brand’s entry-level SUV for its rugged looks, impressive technology, and significant amount of room for rear occupants.
The Mercedes-Benz A Class and GLC also ranked within the top 10, alongside the BMW 330, one of the most powerful versions of the famous 3-Series, and X3.
