Sci-fi show ‘better than Black Mirror’ is free to stream in the UK

If you are missing your Black Mirror fix, look no further.

A sci-fi thriller series branded “better than Black Mirror” has been released on Amazon Prime and has received stellar reviews from fans.

Electric Dreams, which was first released on Channel 4 in the UK in 2017, stars the likes Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston, Timothy Spall, Game of Thrones star Richard Madden and Holliday Grainger.

Based on the novels of the science fiction author Philip K. Dick, Electric Dreams shares a lot of the same DNA as Black Mirror.

Both shows exist as a collection of roughly hour-long episodes that dissect the connections between humanity and technology. The plots in Electric Dreams include aliens using body doubles on Earth, robots and telepathic super powers.

However, the series received far less recognition than Black Mirror, which is widely regarded as one of the best television series of the 2010s.

Unfortunately for fans, Electric Dreams was cancelled after just one series.

But that hasn’t stopped viewers from praising the series online, with one writing on X: “Been watching Philip K Dick’s electric dreams on prime + now.

“I really need to read his written work bc wowwww such a shame there was only one season, it really needs another as it’s so thought-provoking + raises a lot of questions surrounding the nature of reality.”

On Google Reviews, a second shared: “All episodes have famous actors and the storyline pulls you in to the story. A must watch for sci-fi fans.

Don’t miss…

“Better than Black Mirror in the sense that most episodes have happy endings and Black Mirror had only San Junipero in the 1st season. Some of the CGI might not be as good as other shows, but everything else is 5 stars.”

Another added: “Electric Dreams in prime giving me Black Mirror vibes with its story telling.”

A fourth agreed: “If you liked Black Mirror, check out Electric Dreams on Prime. On top of being a scifi anthology with strange twists, we also get performances from Anna Paquin, Bryan Cranston, and Steve Buscemi. What more could you ask for?”

Another said: “Everyone talks about Black Mirror but no one talks about Electric Dreams and that makes me sad.”
