UK storm maps show 18 cities pummeled by barrage of snow and rain

for yet another powerful storm system that will unleash a barrage of and rain across several regions.

from WXCharts projections for Tuesday, February 4, show headed for cities across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, with southern areas also experiencing heavy rain.

Intense bands of rainfall will sweep across the UK, with precipitation rates exceeding 10mm per hour in some regions.

Cities such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, and Dublin are at this system’s forefront, with anticipated localised flooding risks.

Western areas, including Cardiff and Plymouth, are also in line for heavy rain as the storm system tracks southeast.

The snow depth map reveals large portions of Scotland and northern England will bear the brunt of heavy snow.

Inverness, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh are expected to see significant accumulation, with depths exceeding 10cm in some areas.

Northern England cities such as Newcastle and parts of the Pennines could also experience snow, making travel hazardous.

WXCharts also shows icy conditions spreading across rural areas of Wales and the Midlands as temperatures plummet in the wake of the storm, raising concerns about dangerous road conditions.

Though much of the south will escape snow, cities like London and Southampton are forecast to face periods of heavy rainfall.

Residents are advised to prepare for localised surface water flooding and strong winds as the storm progresses.

The is expected to issue weather warnings as the storm approaches. Authorities are urging residents in affected areas to monitor updates, take necessary precautions, and prepare for potential travel disruptions caused by flooding and snow.

In ‘s long-range forecast, they said: “An unsettled start to the period with a further area of low pressure likely to bring some rain into the UK, perhaps heaviest in the south while the north is more likely to see a mix of drier interludes and showers.

“Once this feature clears we see a trend toward more settled conditions, and for much of the UK these likely to continue to the end of the period, although the extreme northwest may see further spells of rain and strong winds at times.

“Temperatures overall are likely to end up being around or slightly above average, though wind and rain will make it feel chilly at first. As conditions become more settled there is an increases risk of overnight frost and fog.”
