A woman was shocked to learn secret about boil in the bag rice
The internet has been the go-to place to find to make your life that little bit easier. This time revealing a simple yet surprising kitchen .
A user, known as ‘Broke until payday’, shared her astonishment upon discovering a secret about boil in the bag rice. “Why am I stupid? Because I thought boil in bag rice was like some special kind of ,” she confessed. She recounted how a trip to Asda by her mother led to an unexpected revelation.
“So the other day I told my mum to run to because I had run out of rice. And she was like ‘ah all they have is boil in the bag rice.’ So I was thinking ‘ah I don’t like boil in the bag rice’. But just pick it up because we need rice.”
Her initial disappointment at not getting ‘normal’ basmati rice turned to shock when she examined the box more closely.
“So I’m looking at the packages now and I’m like this is just normal basmati rice that I buy anyway but not in a bag. Surely you must be able to cut open and just boil it without it being in the bag” she said.
The woman humorously added, “I honestly honestly thought in all my 41 years of life that boil in the bag rice was some special kind of rice for people that can’t cook rice, so they made special rice and put it in a bag.
“So I was today years old when I learned that so I just cut all the rice out of the packages because who boils rice in a bag anyways? If you do, no judgement, listeners here. But look how it came out, it just came out like normal regular smegular rice.”
She showed her pot of cooked rice, which she had fluffed up and added butter to ahead of serving it with her meal.
She demonstrated her pot of perfectly fluffed and buttered rice, explaining the trick for those who might find only boil-in-bag options on the shelves: “So all that to say, if you run out of rice and all they have in the shop is boil in the bag rice, you can buy that,” she said.
Opinions were divided on the woman’s rice hack, as some queried the need for cutting open the bag. “I don’t understand why you cut it open and emptied it, it cooks exactly the same,” one person said, prompting the creator to respond: “Because I don’t like boil in a bag rice.”
Others chipped in on the debate, with one suggesting: “Boil in the bag is just for people who can’t cook as when it’s completely expanded you know it’s done and it’s easier to clean the pan,” while another explained the packaged rice appeal: “it’s portioned that’s why it’s in a bag and also makes it easier.
Sharing a personal anecdote, a user said, “I had this conversation in reverse with my ex…he only bought boil in the bag rice, and when I explained to him it was exactly the same as the packer I bought, he was so confused.”
