Despite not playing in the last nine games under Amorim, Rashford has continued to be a topic of discussion during the Portuguese manager’s press conferences. He was mentioned after their 3-1 loss to Brighton last week, as Amorim defended his decision not to include the forward.
“It is his choice [not to play],” the 39-year-old said. “I don’t want to focus on this bad moment because in the games we lost, Rashford is not here. I don’t want to put this moment on Rashford. Rashford is out of this moment because he is not playing. Regardless, I am not going to field a player I don’t believe is the best for the team.”
