The devious reality series is set to air its finale episode on Friday (January 24th), after delivering a fresh bout of backstabbing, betrayal, and murder.

Contestants eyeing the £120,000 prize pot aren’t just in it for the money. With the show’s soaring popularity, lucrative advertising deals are likely for its standout participants. Yet, viewers often wonder if the cast receives compensation simply for appearing on the programme.

No appearance fees are granted to the cast, but they receive roughly £100 daily as compensation for taking time off their regular employment. The length of stay varies, with some being eliminated quickly through ‘banishment’ or ‘murder’, yet those making it to the finale spend a significant amount of time on the show.

Considering they must take leave from their normal jobs and potentially miss out on earnings, the production offers this financial support to help the contestants out while they’re on the show.

Aaron Evans, a former contestant from the first series, disclosed: “They don’t technically pay you, they subsidise what you would have got for work with the show, it’s roughly like £100 a day. It’s not that much… but it’s definitely worth it.”

The hit series sees a group of individuals cohabitate in a sprawling Scottish castle, tasked with identifying the traitors among them.

Although all enter as the Faithful, host selects a chosen few to become traitors, initiating the game’s underhanded tactics. The show has been a roaring success, with audiences hooked on the unfolding drama and deceit.

Curious fans often wonder about the behind-the-scenes action, particularly where the contestants bed down for the night. In the first series, it appeared that all participants slept within the grand castle.

However, footage shows them being chauffeured away each evening. Despite fans first believing the stars actually sleep in the opulent castle, the players sleep elsehwere; in a hotel located 45 minutes away.

They are transported to Inverness every night for their rest, before making their way back to the castle for breakfast. The third series of the show launched three weeks ago and tonight’s final will run for longer than typical episodes at 70 minutes.

Just five contestants remain, including Faithfuls Alexander Dragonetti, Francesca Rowan-Plowden, Jake Brown and Leanne Quigley. They are up against Charlotte Berman, who’s the only Traitor left.

The Faithfuls will need to banish Charlotte before the end of the game in order to win, but if she manages to be there at very end then she wins it all for herself.

Fans saw Francesca earning the special advantage of being able to select one player and forcing them to reveal if they are a Faithful or a Traitor. To fans amazement, she selected traitor Charlotte, leaving fans wondering how this key information will change the course of tonight’s final.

The Traitors finale airs on Friday from 8.30pm on One or catch up on iPlayer.
