BBC’s concerned fans as she shared that she was trapped in a lift. The 38-year-old journalist and presenter took to social media to share her dilemma as she eagerly awaited to be saved.
Captioning a snap of her sat on the floor, with her legs crossed and her head resting in her hand, the star explained: “So it seems I’ll be weathering the rest of the storm in the lift which has broken down with me inside.
“The good news is, it was on the way back from the vending machine so I have a Wispa. And at least it’s not windy in here.”
A little while later she gave a further update, writing: “So a chap came out but isn’t authorised to rescue me so they have to call in someone who’s responsible for the lift. Given the day that’s in it, that could be problematic. I’ll make myself comfortable.”
Some of her 38,800 followers commented with their concerns for her safety. One post read: “Would legit throw up if this happened to me. Thoughts and prayers.”
So it seems I’ll be weathering the rest of the storm in the BBC lift which has broken down with me inside. The good news is, it was on the way back from the vending machine so I have a Wispa. And at least it’s not windy in here.

Another added: “Oh no Holly, worst nightmare, even with a Wispa. Hope you are on the move again soon,” while a third echoed: “Oh Holly! I think I might be freaking out slightly!”
Just over an hour after making her initial post, Holly was freed from the lift by a man called Stephen. Sharing a video from the moment he came to her rescue, she said: “I am out, I am free! I am not getting back into that lift ever again.”
The newsreader is not the first staff member to be taken hostage by the company lifts. Back in 2022, Ben Brown also fell victim to it.

At the time, he took to his social media account writing: “One hour and counting stuck in this lift. I’ve been promised rescue teams are on the way but no sign of them yet.”
Anne Ashworth asked him: “What music is playing?” to which he quickly responded: “Radio One – starting to drive me mad.”
Greg James, who presented Radio One’s breakfast show at the time, jokingly replied: “I’ll give you a shoutout if you’re still there at 7am.”
