Bradley Walsh lands ‘truly magical’ new show away from The Chase

Bradley Walsh has landed a new show away from his regular hosting role on ITV hit The Chase and game show Gladiators. The TV presenter, 64, is set to star in the upcoming documentary Bradley Walsh: Egypt’s Cosmic Code.

The three-part series, which will air on Sky HISTORY this March, will see Bradley fulfilling a lifelong dream of exploring Ancient Egypt’s monuments and attempting to understand how such ‘wonders of the ancient world’ were created 4,500 years ago, as per the show’s synopsis.

Bradley, who has a deep interest in Ancient Egypt, will be seen in a completely different light by his fans as he delves into his passion for engineering and poses various theories and questions throughout the series.

The show’s synopsis reveals that during his epic journey through the ‘Land of the Pharaohs’, Bradley, who is fascinated by pyramids, will be accompanied by Dr Meredith Brand from the American University in Cairo and Dr Arto Belekdanian.

He will initially use his expert engineering knowledge to examine the evolution of pyramid building, starting with King Djoser’s Step Pyramid, moving onto Pharaoh Sneferu’s Red and Bent Pyramids at Dahshur, and finally the Great Pyramid at Giza.

A synopsis reveals: “This provides the platform for his further investigations into the riddle of The Sphinx, its provenance, and its ancient symbolism, which experts have long argued over, before he embarks on his quest to unravel the significance of the Egyptian preoccupation with death and the afterlife.

“Bradley completes the series by fulfilling his ambition to visit the Luxor tomb of Egypt’s most famous and short-lived ruler, Tutankhamun, to try and unravel the mysteries of the rise and fall of Egypt’s most famous Royal dynasty.”

Following the announcement of the series, Bradley says: “I have been captivated by Ancient Egypt for as long as I can remember, and now, finally experiencing it firsthand feels truly magical.

“I have so many questions. Who built the pyramids? Why and how? Exploring Egypt’s most iconic ancient monuments and speaking with experts like Meredith Brand and Arto Belekdanian is the perfect way to seek answers to these mysteries.

“Egypt is a land of wonder and intrigue, and this journey promises to be the adventure of a lifetime.”

Matt Crook of Studio Crook added: “When Bradley and I first started talking about this project, he had some pretty out-there theories on the pyramids, which he absolutely backed up with his engineering background and a whiteboard of mathematical theories. It has been one of the funniest, most fascinating, and intense adventures I have ever had the pleasure of filming. I think viewers are going to enjoy seeing a different side to Bradley.”

Bradley Walsh: Egypt’s Cosmic Code will premiere on Sky HISTORY on 18th March 2025
