Parts of Britain are likely to be battered by over the next five days as the show eight areas turning white and purple.

WXCharts maps show snow peppered on various areas of the country between January 25 and 29.

The maps which are prepared using the Metdesk data show are likely to remain in the country as January ends.

Areas around Fort William and Portree in Scotland are likely to experience the heaviest snowfall, as 15cm may fall on these areas on January 28, the maps have suggested.

Snow could even spread further south into England, with a chance of cities including Manchester, Cardiff and Birmingham being hit.

Temperatures are also likely to plummet to lows of -6C in the Scottish Highlands on January 26.

The cold conditions come as the issued a number of for various parts of the UK during the weekend.

Storm Éowyn which is forecast to bring disruptive winds that could reach 90mph, as well as heavy rain and snow for some on Friday.

The ’s long-range forecast between January 27 and February 5 reads: “This looks like being and unsettled period across much of the country, but especially for northern and western parts.

“During Monday, another deep area of low pressure looks likely to move across the UK from the Atlantic, bringing wet and windy conditions to most if not all parts.

“Further spells of wet and windy weather look like moving east from the Atlantic to affect the UK during the rest of the period too, with drier, brighter spells in between.

“There is the potential for further weather warnings or even a named storm at some point.

“Temperatures overall are likely to end up being around or slightly above average, though wind and rain will make it feel chilly, and brief cool spells with some overnight frost are likely between weather systems.”
