The Chase stars Anne Hegerty and Jenny Ryan have lifted the lid on some of the unseen dynamics that take place behind the scenes of the beloved ITV quiz show.
The genius duo made an appearance on “This Morning” on Thursday (January 23), spilling secrets to hosts Cat Deeley and about the upcoming series of “Beat the Chasers,” which hit the screens earlier this month.
During the chat, the pair gave viewers a sneak peek into what happens off-camera when all six chasers assemble: “It’s quite a dangerous thing to put all six of us together – the egos and all the brain power.
The competitive warm-up quizzing that goes on in the dressing room is something to behold,” divulged Jenny.
Moreover, Jenny’s backstory as a question setter for “The Chase” before becoming a chaser was brought to light, courtesy of Anne’s support. As Cat probed, “Jenny, you were originally working behind the camera on the show first of all, and Anne, were you something to do with how Jenny became a chaser? “.

Jenny Ryan and Anne Hegerty both appeared on This Morning
Jenny dished details on her initial role: “The pilot run, there was just two question setters. They were obviously just trying it out and hopefully, it would go on. In fact, the other person writing the questions is now an Egghead, so it’s very strange how it comes round,” she recounted.
“So, I wrote those questions and set the show off on the road to success, and Anne joined down the road. I was quizzing alongside Anne and she had a little recommendation for me.”
Anne revealed that Jenny initially invited her to join a quiz team in Bolton, and after quizzing together for several years, Anne was instrumental in helping Jenny land a role on the show.
The Chase stars are “dangerous” behind the scenes
“I knew that they were looking for a new female chaser, and I was sort of thinking my way round the quizzing circuit, and thought, ‘Well, the obvious candidate is really going to be Jenny’,” Anne explained.
The sixth series of Beat the Chasers premiered on ITV1 last Thursday (January 17), featuring the six chasers – The Governess, The Vixen, The Dark Destroyer, The Sinnerman, The Beast, and The Menace.
Contestants compete against the chasers in a high-stakes game, answering multiple-choice questions and participating in a tense head-to-head challenge against the clock.
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm and This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
