PS5 gets a new system update on January 23
is rolling out a brand new 5 update across the various regions.
As you can see from the patch notes further down the page, system update 25.01-10.60.00 isn’t the most exciting patch, but you will need to download in order to sign into PSN and play online.
Needless to say, the new update improves system stability and performance for your PS5. This should lead to a smoother experience when navigating the menus.
Furthermore, Sony has improved “messages and usability on some screens”.
Starting today, PS5 system software will be updated to version 25.01-10.60.00 in a phased release,” reads a Sony tweet.

Indeed, as you can see from the guide below, the easiest way to keep the PS5 updated is by setting up automatic updates.
Sony explains: “Select Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
“Turn on Download Update Files Automatically and Install Update Files Automatically.”
To install updates manually, head to the “System Software Update and Settings” page in the menu and select “Update System Software” if an update is available.
