Brits are bracing up for a chaotic weekend as the of strong winds, rain, and as wreaks havoc.

Gusts up to 90mph are likely to bring with the warning of “danger to life” caused by flying debris.

On Friday, red wind warnings were issued for Northern Ireland and central and southwestern areas of Scotland. These warnings are accompanied by wider amber and yellow warnings for wind, as well as yellow warnings for rain and snow.

Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen said: “We reserve the issuing of red warnings for the most severe weather which represents a likely danger to life and severe disruption, and that is the case with

“While it will be widely very windy on Friday, with additional hazards from rain and snow, the strongest winds and most significant impacts are likely in Northern Ireland and central and southwestern parts of Scotland within the Red Warning areas, where winds could gust 80-90 mph quite widely for a time, and potentially up to 100 mph for exposed coasts in particular.”

According to the , yellow and amber warnings represent a range of impact levels and likelihoods. The impacts can include damage to property, travel delays and cancellations, loss of water supplies, power cuts, and, in the most severe cases, danger to life.

However, a red warning implies that dangerous weather is expected, and if you haven’t already done so, you should take action now to keep yourself and others safe from the impact of severe weather.

There will likely be a risk to life, with substantial disruption to travel, energy supplies and possibly widespread damage to property and infrastructure.

The said: “You should avoid traveling, where possible, and follow the advice of the emergency services and local authorities.”
