Bruno Fernandes scored a dramatic winner moments after Rangers had equalised
Man Utd player ratings vs Rangers
Altay Bayindir – 7
Reacted well to block Igamane’s deflected strike which looked set for the bottom corner. Dealt with the vast majority of questions asked by the visiting forwards. Could not have done much about the late goal, which was a brilliant finish.
Leny Yoro – 6
Used his positional sense to cut passing lanes and snuff out attacks when needed. Did okay in possession but his passing was not as crisp as it could have been. Substituted before the hour mark.
– 6
Got away with one early on when he played a sloppy pass back to his goalkeeper and Rangers failed to capitalise. Headed home from a corner but saw his goal chalked off for a dubious foul in the box. Replaced at the interval.
Lisandro Martinez – 7
Showed little hesitation in getting forward to support attacks and did his defensive duties well. Tested the goalkeeper with a ferocious effort from range just before the break. Played an incredible ball in for the late winner.
Diogo Dalot – 5
Lacked composure at times, smashing the ball out for a Rangers corner in a moment of madness after the break. Failed to contribute with anything of note at either end of the pitch. Not his finest display.
Toby Collyer – 6
Looked nervy to start with, losing the ball in his own half to hand Rangers an early chance. Eventually found his feet and helped to keep things ticking in the middle third. Not bad.

– 8
Played in a deeper role than usual, sitting in the engine room alongside Collyer. Used his passing range to carve out chances further forward. Stepped up when he was needed to deliver the goods late on. A captain’s performance.
Christian Eriksen – 6
Was tasked with playing in the hole behind the striker. Quiet early on but grew into the game and caused problems from set-pieces. Swung in the corner which saw United take the lead thanks to a comical error from Butland.
Amad – 6
Took a while to get going against his former loan club. Missed a great chance to open the scoring before the break with a tame effort from close range. Fared better in the second half, linking up nicely with his team-mates.

Alejandro Garnacho – 8
Brushed off the speculation around his future with a lively performance, making things happen with some tricky runs from out wide. Should have scored with a close-range effort which struck the post, but was probably United’s best performer.
Joshua Zirkzee – 5
Ran around a lot without actually doing much at all. Failed to offer a goal threat until he was replaced by late on. Still yet to show why he should be considered good enough for a club like United.
Substitutes
Harry Maguire – 5
Missed a free header to double United’s advantage after the opening goal. Lost his concentration for the equaliser. Not good enough.
Tyrell Malacia – 6
Came on for Yoro in the second half, playing on his natural left flank. Did okay but nothing to write home about.
Manuel Ugarte – 6
Was tasked with keeping it tight in midfield for the final 20 minutes and did okay.
Kobbie Mainoo – 6
As above, did the basics well enough without setting the world alight.

A late addition.
