Luke Littler turned 18 earlier this week
has been warned to “watch out” now the darts sensation has turned 18.
and will compete in his first tournament as an adult at this week’s Dutch Darts Masters.
But fellow darts ace Vincent van der Voort has issued a warning to the teen sensation, regarding media duties.
Speaking on the ‘Darts Draait Door’ podcast, the Dutchman said: “He was the up-and-coming guy for a while and now he’s there. He’s also loved by the press, but in the long run that’s going to change.
“When you’re still a kid, they’re still lenient on you. Once they see you as an adult, they don’t mind taking you under. Luke will have to watch out for it.
Littler has certainly dominated headlines since he broke onto the professional scene a little over 12 months ago.
Van der Voort doesn’t expect that to change but he has shared concerns about potential burnout for the Nuke, because of the vast number of media appearances he’ll have to commit to.
The 49-year-old continued: “In the Netherlands you don’t have that so much. We are good at expressing our opinions, but that is really Netherlands-own. Then again, they often have trouble with that abroad.

“They always want to know what you think of something. It will be hard for him to start canceling things, because the PDC wants him for everything. Nobody needs to feel sorry for Littler, because he gets paid handsomely for it. And that can only get more now.”

Littler is no stranger to a television camera. Just weeks after reaching the final of the World Championship last year, the Warrington-based arrowsmith was a guest on the Jonathan Ross Show – a privilege that wasn’t even reserved for the tournament’s victor, Luke Humphries.
He’ll be hoping his darts can do the talking though, starting this weekend in Den Bosch.
He makes up part of a stacked field for the event in the Netherlands, with Michael van Gerwen making his first appearance of the year, having sat out last week’s Bahrain Darts Masters.
The action gets underway on Friday, with the final taking place on Saturday evening.
