These horrifying images lay bare the torture regime operated by recently deposed Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
The photographs chillingly show the inhumane conditions inside the ‘Air Force Intelligence Directorate’, one of the torture and interrogation centers that terrorized the people of Syria for decades.
It was only uncovered in the capital Damascus after the fall of the al-Assad regime on January 01, 2025.
The interrogation centre was where the ousted administration formerly held and tortured prisoners – including children and young people – after they were detained for demonstrating during the civil war.

The cells show the inhumane conditions those held there were forced to endure, trying to live in semi-darkness under pieces of cardboard, while blankets were spread on the floor.

Authorities who liberated the centre also found a number of sharp objects and tools – including metal pliers – believed to have been used in torture chambers, which were made up of wards and solitary cells.

Assad, the former ruler who fled Syria during the recent rebel uprising, and his family are now understood to be under “severe restrictions” in Moscow.

It has been reported he is barred from leaving the city or engaging in political activities.

His assets and money in are also reported to be frozen.

But Assad is said to have moved to Moscow some 270 kilograms of gold and £1.6 billion.

In addition, he and his family are believed to own dozens of apartments in the Russian capital.
