Disney teases new psychological thriller from Harlan Coben producer
Disney+ has unveiled a first glimpse at an exciting new thriller series from the creators of some of ‘s most popular shows.
This five-part psychological drama boasts a star-studded cast that viewers will recognise from several major TV hits in recent years.
The series is the brainchild of bestselling author Alex Dahl, based on her novel Playdate, and is produced by the studio responsible for numerous Harlan Coben mysteries, promising gripping drama and shocking plot twists.
The cast is led by One Day and This Is Going to Hurt star Ambika Mod and Strike’s Holliday Grainger, with supporting roles filled by Andor’s Denise Gough, Cloud Atlas’s Jim Sturgess, The Suspect’s Bronaugh Waugh and My Lady Jane’s Michael Workeye.
Disney+ teases: “The series tells the story of fascinating, relatable and complex women in an unimaginable situation.”

A full synopsis reveals a chilling story of a kidnapped young girl that is set to keep audiences gripped throughout each episode.
“A seemingly ordinary decision turns the world of Elisa, mum to two young kids, upside down in this tense thriller,” it reads.
“When her 9-year-old daughter Lucia excitedly asks to go on an overnight playdate with her new best friend Josie, Elisa agrees. After meeting Josie’s mother, Rebecca, she’s put at ease by her charming nature and their impressive house”, reports .
“But when she says goodnight to her daughter, she has no idea that she is about to be thrust into every parent’s worst nightmare.
“The next day, when Elisa goes to pick up Lucia, she discovers that the beautiful house was a holiday rental. Lucia is missing. Rebecca and Josie have vanished. What started out as her daughter’s first sleepover has turned into an abduction.

While an official launch date remains under wraps, the buzzworthy series is pegged for a 2025 debut. Keen fans should keep an eye out for further updates and a teaser trailer likely to drop in the coming months.
Nicola Shindler is on board as executive producer through Quay Street Productions, where her portfolio includes Coben adaptations like Missing You and Fool Me Once for , plus acclaimed Russell T Davies-helmed dramas Nolly and It’s A Sin.
The Stolen Girl will premiere in 2025 on Disney+.
