Fans of the who have tried it for themselves shared their adaptations of these simple flapjacks.

One Good Food member wrote: “I add a mixture of 50/50 soft dark brown sugar and golden caster sugar. Also, make sure they are in the centre of the oven. Halfway through cooking, turn round as some ovens cook hotter in places than others! I added a few minutes on my second batch which was how I like them, firm but slightly sticky. Fast… Easy… But most importantly, Delicious.”

Another remarked: “Such a simple, easy with fab flapjacks at the end; what’s not to like? So much better than shop-bought ones, too, as there are no additives, and you can make them as squidgy as you like by adding (or not) the syrup. I highly recommend it.”

Perhaps the most unique element of this is using a food processor to speed up the process. It creates a lovely smooth texture, but for those who prefer chunkier flapjacks, simply stir all of your ingredients together in a bowl before transferring to the tray to bake.

Flapjacks recipe

Ingredients

  • 250g jumbo porridge oats
  • 125g butter plus extra for greasing
  • 125g light brown sugar
  • Two to three tbsp golden syrup

Method

Heat the oven to 200C or a lower temperature of 180C fan/gas six for a fan-assisted oven. For the mixture, an “all-in-one” approach is best.

Unlike most flapjack recipes, you don’t need to mix the ingredients by hand. Instead, use a food processor and pulse until combined, but be careful not to overmix, or the oats may lose their texture.

When the mixture is prepared, lightly butter a 20cm x 20cm baking tin and add the contents of the food processor. Press into the corners with the back of a spoon so the mixture is flat, and score into 12 squares.

Finally, bake the flapjacks for around 15 minutes until golden brown. Serve as they are or leave to cool before drizzling over some melted chocolate or yoghurt.
