Karoline Leavitt, the new White House press secretary, on Tuesday drew mockery for her breathless praise of Donald Trump on Fox News.
Leavitt — who is no strangerto bombasticallygoing to bat for the president — claimed of Trump’s second administration: “We have truth on our side at this White House.”
“This man is already doing more in less than 24 hours than his predecessor did in four years,” Leavitt, the youngest ever press secretary, also declared.
Leavitt’s hyperbole came as she teased an imminent announcement from Trump on infrastructure.
While Trump was pilloried during his first term for not delivering on his often-touted “Infrastructure Week,” on Tuesday he did actually announce that billions of dollars from the private sector will be invested in infrastructure to boost the use and development of artificial intelligence.
Critics, though, likened Leavitt’s rhetoric on Trump to that which is parroted on foreign state media, particularly in North Korea.
“Propaganda so blatant it would make the dictator of North Korea blush,” one commenter wrote. Another cackled at her talk about “truth.” Trump told more than 30,000 lies during his term, per The Washington Post.
