A 16-year-old boy has been found guilty of attempted murder after a vicious attack on a teenager who was found hidden in a bush with multiple injuries.

The victim, also 16 years old, was found in the grounds of William Stukeley Primary School, Holbeach, on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

On Tuesday, Crown Court heard how the boys had been socialising and drinking heavily before the victim passed out, reports LincolnshireLive.

After the defendant left to walk another member of the group home, he later returned whilst on the phone to a friend where he repeatedly said that he planned to kill the unconscious teen.

Concerned over the language and demeanour of the defendant, the person on the other end of the phone called police and gave a brief description of events and location.

Upon arriving at the scene, found the victim with lacerations to his neck and abdomen, inflicted by the defendant using a broken bottle.

He had also suffered a haemorrhage in the left eye and fractured eye socket.

First aid was given at the scene and paramedics arrived soon after.

Officers arrested the suspect at his home address in connection with what was believed to have been an attempted murder.

The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stated that he had no idea what had happened, saying that he was extremely confused.

The jury was told how the defendant had video called a teenage girl from a nearby bench in which he could be seen holding a broken bottle and threatening to cut the victim’s throat.

The jurors however found the defendant guilty in less than three hours following a six day trial.

He will return to Lincoln Crown Court on March 3 to be sentenced but has been warned by Judge Simon Hirst that: “The sentence is one of custody. The only issue is length.”
