Ringo Starr and his son Zak
The son of ‘ Ringo Starr has been forced to cancel a performance due to a health scare. Drummer had to pull out of a performance in London on Tuesday night as he had a blood clot in his leg.
The 59-year-old star and his band, Mantra Of The Cosmos, were due to perform a secret gig in Soho, but had to cancel at the last minute.
A spokesperson for the band – which also includes singer Shaun Ryder, percussionist Mark ‘Bez’ Berry and guitarist Andy Bell – told press that Zak is suffering from a blood clot in his right leg.
They explained that the musician been ordered by a doctor to take blood thinners for the condition and to rest for two weeks.
Despite Tuesday’s gig being cancelled, celebrities and music fans poured into Karma Sanctum Soho where a video of the band’s performance at Liverpool’s Cavern Club on January 19 was played instead.

At the event, Bez admitted that performing in the iconic club was “so special” and “better than anything I ever imagined in my life.”
With a nod to Zak’s dad, Ringo, Bez continued: “To play there… I had to show off right at the end. His f****** dad’s Ringo Starr! Know what I mean? We felt like the Beatles – well, I did for a little moment.”
Despite The Beatles’ history with the Cavern Club, Zak admitted that he had never stepped foot in the venue before that night.

He told : “It was very surreal. I was s***ting it – proper s***ting it until I got on there and it was amazing. The music is like holy music isn’t it.
“Before I was s***ting my pants. I was sitting in my room and I text Noel saying I was s***ting it. He said, ‘Get down there and get on, what are you talking about?'”
He added: “No, this is our band – it’s not daunting, it’s just great. But The Beatles are daunting.”
Starkey, who has drummed for The Who and Oasis, said the style of his new group is “completely different” and “unpredictable” because it is led by Ryder’s freestyle poetry.
