Netflix’s highly anticipated political thriller Zero Day has finally unveiled its official trailer, after years in development.
The streaming giant gave the green light to Zero Day in March 2023, with fans of Robert De Niro eagerly awaiting the drama where he stars as former US President George Mullen.
De Niro’s character is charged with leading the Zero Day Commission to investigate a “catastrophic cyberattack that plunges the nation into chaos”.
continues to tease: “As disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambition of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide, Mullen’s unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear.”
The trailer, released on Wednesday, January 22, immediately captures attention with its intense opening scenes.

Mullen’s voiceover chillingly recounts: “Three thousand, four hundred and two people died on Zero Day,” against a backdrop of an office descending into darkness, frenzied crowds, and smoke billowing over New York City.
News segments in the trailer label the event as “nationwide terror” and show “computer systems completely hijacked”, with a sinister message sent to all Americans warning: “This will happen again.”
The plot thickens as Mullen receives an invitation to the White House from Madam President Mitchell (Angela Bassett), who tasks him with leading the hunt for those behind Zero Day.
Mullen, described as a “deeply troubled man”, soon finds himself under intense scrutiny, with even his wife questioning his mental stability.

The question remains: can Mullen successfully track down those behind Zero Day before another attack, or will doubts about his competence prove well-founded?
Robert De Niro, known for his roles in Killers Of The Flower Moon and Cape Fear, takes the lead as George Mullen.
Angela Bassett of What’s Love Got To Do With It and Wakanda Forever fame plays President Mitchell, while Jesse Plemons from Love And Death stars as Mullen’s former bodyguard Roger Carlson.
Lizzy Caplan, known for her role in Masters of Sex, portrays Mullen’s daughter and congresswoman Alexandra Mullen.
The six-part limited series is the brainchild of Narcos creator Eric Newman and former NBC News president Noah Oppenheim, and will be released in its entirety on the day of launch.
