Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen nearly died and ‘had to be resuscitated’ by Bear Grylls

The ultimate survival challenge, Celebrity Bear Hunt is an action-packed competition that drops a group of stars into the Central American jungle, where they become prey for Bear Grylls.

The show is certainly not for the faint-hearted as it was reported Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen almost lost his life following a freak incident.

Whilst filming the gruelling series in Costa Rica in May last year, Laurence took part in a water challenge alongside some of his fellow celebrities and was tasked with jumping into the river.

But in a shocking turn of events, the interior designer became tangled in a rope and ended up underneath the boat.

Sources claim that Laurence was underwater for several minutes before he was pulled to safety by members of the team supervising the stunt.

The incident left Laurence and those around him “very shaken”, with the TV personality believing he was going to die.

A source told : “Laurence was very shaken as was everyone. He said that he thought he was a goner.

“It was a very serious situation and at the time we thought that maybe wouldn’t show what happened because it was that bad, but now it looks as if it will be in the programme.”

The source added: ” were very very apologetic about it afterwards.”

Hosted by , Celebrity Bear Hunt includes a mix of 12 celebrities ranging from star Shirley Ballas, Spice Girls singer Mel B and former tennis champion Boris Becker.
