A 42-year-old woman was brutally hit by an Audi A3 travelling at over 45mph in a 30mph cone as she flew into the air and suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, Luke Gough, was sentenced to five and a half years in jail on Monday after he admitted serious injury by dangerous driving.
Gough, 36, was filmed on CCTV fleeing the scene, leaving the hit and run victim with a fractured spine, broken leg and dislocated knee.
After the impact on Princes Avenue in Hull in July 2022, the car was found half a mile away, burnt out after the crash, Hull Crown Court heard.
In the car was passenger Gemma Johnson, 30, who faces a nine-month suspended prison sentence and 15 days’ rehabilitation. Johnson pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.

The moment a woman is hurled into the air during a hit and run.
In the released footage of the incident, the woman is seen walking out into Princess Avenue before the car sped along and hit her.
Before the impact, the 42-year-old can be seen trying to avoid the vehicle as the headlights shine brightly. She was then flung 30 metres into the air, according to the police, landing onto the roof of the car before plummeting to the ground and scraping along the tarmac.
Prosecutor Julie Baggs noted the woman had been drinking while on a night out and had just got pizza before attempting to cross the road. Shortly after 1.15am, a “loud bang and a crack” was then heard as the car hit her.
A witness later said: “It looked like the Audi was absolutely flooring it.”
The victim was in Hull Royal Infirmary for just under a month as she recovered after initially spending time in the trauma ward. Following this, she was moved to Castle Hill Hospital for ongoing care which included a bed in her living room.
In November, it is reported that the woman underwent surgery on her right leg and would need a knee replacement.

Passenger Johnson was heard saying: “You have just hit a f***ing woman. Get out. Get the f*** out.”
Another male said: “I think she’s dead, mate.”
Johnson then said there was a petrol can and told Gough to burn the car: “Luke, you f***ing burn it.”
On August 1, police went to Gough’s home where the couple were arrested. Officers found a shard of glass in the washing machine that matched a sample taken from the car as well as a positive blood match.
Gough was already a banned driver after being disqualified in 2006 and had never passed the extended retest that he was supposed to do before driving again.
