Father Brown’s Claudie Blakey teases ’emotional’ season 12 episode

Father Brown’s Claudie Blakey has divulged the emotional toll of her scenes in the latest season 12 episode.

The beloved crime drama, which recently made its anticipated return to screens and is currently streaming all new episodes on iPlayer, features the sleuthing Father Brown, a Roman Catholic priest who solves mysteries in his Cotswold village.

Claudie, who brings to life Mrs Devine on the show, disclosed that her character becomes entangled in a murder case, an experience that stirred up strong emotions during filming.

“I get accused of murdering somebody in one episode, which was brilliant to film, even though I spent a lot of the episode crying!” Claudie shared.

She expressed the intense fear her character faced, highlighting the dire consequences of the time: “It was pretty frightening because in those days that would be it for Mrs Devine, she could be hanged if found guilty. So the stakes are high for Sullivan in that episode and it was really emotional,” reports .

With the previous season ending on a romantic cliffhanger, fans have been eager to see what unfolds between Sullivan and Mrs Devine, following Sullivan’s heartfelt marriage proposal.

Claudie revealed that the engaged couple confront a challenging choice, possibly taking them to London as they prepare for married life.

“We’ve taken three series to get here, but here we are finally!” Claudie exclaimed about the long-awaited engagement.

However, the engagement bliss for the couple is set to face a challenge when Sullivan’s father insists on having a say in their wedding plans.

“Sullivan’s father also says that he won’t give the wedding his blessing unless they both move to London, which shocks Mrs Devine,” Claudie revealed.

“She’s scared at the prospect of having to leave Kembleford and her friends, but she considers it for Edgar and for his career; she loves him.”

Claudie shared that the enduring appeal of the series, now in its 12th chapter, lies in its “wonderful” storytelling.

“This series is even better than the last, the era and of course the beautiful backdrop of the Cotswolds,” she enthused.
