took an emotional turn once again after one guest shared their moving story behind their childhood items.

During today’s (January 22) episode of the hit show, Irwin came into the barn with a well-travelled toy that needed help.

The much-loved stuffed bear name George was given to him in 1962 by his late mum and dad, who were two of the millions of Brits who immigrated to Australia between 1945 and 1982.

Irwin became emotional as he revealed that at three years old, he contracted Polio, and George was by his side on every hospital trip and he had been a companion ever since.

Both Irwin’s parents have since died, and Irwin revealed that his mum always spoke about getting George restored one day.

The Repair Shop airs from 8pm on One and iPlayer
