Strictly Come Dancing’s vocalist, Tommy Blaize, has spoken out about a “difficult” moment during the 2024 final of the show. The emotional finale saw and Dianne Buswell crowned as winners and take home the Glitterball trophy.
During an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine, host Lorraine Kelly asked him about the final, particularly focusing on Dianne and Chris’ waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers. This performance was a deeply moving experience for everyone involved, including viewers at home.
Lorraine praised the moment, saying: “Tommy that was a gorgeous moment,” to which Tommy agreed: “It really was, it was quite special.”
She went on to say: “Sometimes you’re kind of the unsung hero because we hear you but we don’t often see you, so it was lovely to see you there. What a special, special moment that was.”
Tommy concurred with Lorraine and disclosed how Chris and Dianne’s song choice made the moment so extraordinary. Both Tommy and Chris are from Liverpool, a city closely linked with the song and its football club, reports .

“It really was. To be able to sing our Liverpool national anthem, if you like, on the final, it was one of those special moments. It was quite difficult to sing, at some points. I dared not look up and watch the dance, because it would have got to me. So, my head was down in the music,” he confessed.
Lorraine concluded: “We were all sobbing at home, so you wouldn’t have been alone!”
Chris, Strictly’s first blind contestant, and his partner Dianne wowed audiences and clinched the Glitterball trophy after a series of stunning performances, consistently securing public votes to dance another week.

Overwhelmed by their victory, Chris heaped praise on Dianne, exclaiming: “It’s astonishing. I don’t know what to say. I honestly thought I could go out in the first week or two. I know nobody could go out in the first week but I still though I could. We’ve just lasted and lasted.”
He continued to laud his dance partner: “She has got so much out of me and she deserves this so much. Everyday, she is positivity, she is belief and she is one of the easiest people to be funny with that I’ve ever met.”
The competition was fierce, with and Vito Coppola, and Lauren Oakley, and and Aljaz Skorjanec finishing as runners-up in the series.
Lorraine airs on weekdays on ITV1 from 9am.
