Ruben Amorim was reportedly furious in the Man Utd dressing room
reportedly damaged a big screen television in the dressing room after their 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday.
The Portuguese was left furious with their lacklustre performance as the Red Devils fell to a sixth home defeat this season and gave his underperforming stars a major dressing down.
The 39-year-old’s verbal tirade was matched by his physical frustration as he lashed out and damaged a TV screen during his fiery post-match team-talk.
In a report from The Athletic, sources ‘with knowledge of the incident’ are cited claiming that a TV used to display tactics before the game was caught in the crossfire of Amorim’s fury and ‘will require fixing’.
The incident was said to have caught United’s squad by surprise as Amorim’s reaction was somewhat out of the ordinary. It is claimed the former Sporting boss does not speak to his team after games and instead saves his analysis for the following day.
But tensions boiled over to the point where those believed to have been on the receiving end of his scolding were even taken aback by his anger.
United’s next fixture comes against Rangers at Old Trafford on Thursday, giving the club ample time to fix the damage caused by the TV.
But the alleged incident indicates there is a concerning lack of harmony within the club, with United still languishing in the bottom half of the table in 13th.
Ruben Amorim wasn’t pleased with Man Utd’s performance against Brighton
The likes of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have fallen out of favour since he took charge in November, with the under-pressure boss looking to stamp out acts of indiscipline – both on and off the pitch.
But the situation hasn’t improved since was sacked, and Amorim’s scathing assessment of his side – calling them the “worst team in United’s history” on Monday – spoke volumes.
“In [the past] 10 games in , we won two,” said Amorim. “Imagine what this is for a fan of . Imagine what this is for me. We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that.
“We are the worst team maybe in the history of . I know you [media] want headlines but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. Here you go: your headlines.”
